GTconsult’s 8th birthday.

This October marks the 8th birthday for GTconsult. Sometimes when I think about it, its hard to believe that this all started from a dream that Craig, Annie and I had all those years ago.

I remember the days when Craig and I would take bets and see which one of us could do the most of hours in a week while Annie just shook her head at us. All those late nights, long hours and hard work is finally paying off as we can now see where GTconsult is heading.

Our success cannot just be attributed to the three of us. We looked for the best talent out there and that is something that we continue to do. Kenny was the first employee we ever had and he has grown and taken up a more senior role in the business. From the moment we asked Kenny to join the team, I knew we were onto something great.

Looking back at the year in review, it was truly spectacular. Our team has grown in so many different ways and I’ve seen people start to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities.

Our new management team.

Nadine Augustine, who has been with us for almost 5 years has stepped into the role of Operations Manager. We have seen a massive shift in the way our team operates with Nadine at the helm and the delivery of our projects has been smoother and less troublesome.

Scott McCann is our Technical Account manager and is responsible for pre-sales and customer happiness at the end of the day. We make the promises that Scott has to keep and he sure does a great job at that.

Arno Bothma has taken a lot of responsibility from Kenny and he too is ensuring that our support division keeps our customers running smoothly throughout the year while tackling migrations, helpdesk queries and server uptime.

Jordan Govender has taken the position as Marketing Manager and responsible for the image of GTconsult to the public and continuously promoting our services around the world. If you have been to one of our events or taken home some sweet swag or enjoy our content-rich monthly newsletters and blogs, its all because of Jordan and his hard work.

Our year in review.

We decided at the end of 2018, we wanted to treat our staff to a weekend away in the KZN Midlands. We wanted them to know that we really do appreciate their hard work during the year and we wanted to give them the opportunity to meet, speak and spend some time with each other face-to-face, instead of via a screen as they’re used to. The event was an overwhelming success and it gave us some added momentum to kick-off 2019.

In February, we hosted our annual roadshow. The idea behind the roadshows is to meet and connect with our clients and also show them what we’ve learned over the past year and what to expect in the future.

Our Cape Town offices leveled up and moved to the upmarket suburb of Bellville in April. The new office, which is located next to a vineyard, is a much-needed change and the team love it. They can often be found riding their mountain bikes through the vineyard during the cool afternoons.

We held our code:RED roadshow in August this year and travelled the country with a few team members. It was great educating the public on the new exploits that are coming out everyday and showing them how they can best defend themselves.

Our dedicated team.

I am a firm believer that if you take care of your team, they will take care of your clients. Last year, we noticed that our team did not have comprehensive medical aid or provident funds and this was something we felt we needed to do for them. We did our research, engaged a reputable company to assist and successfully rolled out the medical aid and provident fund to our staff who have been with us for a year or more with no extra cost to the team. It is our way of saying we care and appreciate the team that makes us awesome.

Our team is, in my opinion, the strongest team we have ever had and they really know how to get the job done. We would like to say a big thank you to our team for doing what they do and going above and beyond to bring us to where we are today.

Our amazing clients.

During September, our clients chatted to us and gave us some truly amazing feedback about what they thought about our work and services. While reading them, I felt a sense of pride knowing that our team is doing what I always dreamt we could do.

Our friends at the Mangosuthu University of Technology recently sat down with us and discussed how we helped them enable secure productivity. You can view the case study here.

We would like to thank our respected and valued clients for their continued support and vow to deliver the high quality development, support and protection that you have become accustomed to.

In closing, I know the future is bright for GTconsult and I am really excited to see what the future holds for us.

Here’s to an exciting future together.
