Meet Nicole: Our New Project Coordinator
GTconsult welcomed Nicole to the team on 1 August 2026, and we couldn't wait to introduce her properly. As a Project Coordinator, Nicole will be helping keep our projects organised, our clients supported, and our teams moving in the same direction. We sat down with her to find out more about her journey, what she's excited about, and what she gets up to when she's not at work.
From Human Physiology to Project Coordination
Nicole's route into project coordination wasn't a straight line, and that's part of what makes it interesting. She started out studying Human Physiology at Stellenbosch University, a subject she genuinely enjoyed. But somewhere along the way, she realised that the routine, research-heavy nature of the field didn't quite match where her strengths actually lay: communication, business, and management.
That realisation took her into a software company in the point-of-sale space, where she worked in customer success and discovered how much she loved the energy of the tech environment. Wanting to grow beyond customer support, she moved into an engineering consultancy as a Project Coordinator. Two years there taught her how satisfying it is to bring order to complexity, connect people, and keep projects on track.
From there, the pull back to technology was strong. It's an industry where things never stand still, and that's exactly what she was looking for.
What She's Looking Forward to at GTconsult
Nicole is joining GTconsult at a time when the industry is moving fast, particularly with AI reshaping how businesses work, solve problems, and grow. She's excited to sit at the intersection of people, projects, and technology, helping clients turn all that change into practical outcomes rather than just possibilities on a slide.
What stood out to her about GTconsult specifically is the balance we try to strike: chasing excellent solutions without losing sight of the people and culture that make good work possible in the first place.
The Strengths She Brings to the Team
Ask Nicole what she's proud of, and three things come up straight away:
- Adaptability under pressure. She's at ease juggling shifting priorities and recalibrating plans when the path forward changes, which happens a lot in project work.
- A genuine appetite for learning. Nicole makes a point of understanding the technical detail behind the work her team does. It means she can appreciate the challenges they face, ask sharper questions, and offer support that actually helps.
- A small-team mindset. Having worked in close-knit teams before, she understands the value of initiative, clear communication, resourcefulness, and being willing to step outside a job description when the team needs it.
Where She Wants to Go From Here
Nicole's goal is to become the kind of Project Manager that clients and colleagues trust without a second thought, someone who brings clarity to complexity and creates the conditions for projects to run smoothly. She's focused on building real, hands-on experience first, so that the support she provides is practical and informed, not just organised on paper. Further down the line, she'd like to pursue a formal qualification like the PMP, but she's clear that theory only really counts once it's backed by real-world experience.
Life Outside Work
Outside the office, Nicole keeps a good balance of movement, creativity, and community. She's often out for a run, on the tennis court with friends, or just spending time in nature. When she wants to slow down, she turns to hands-on creative hobbies like painting and sewing. Volunteering matters a lot to her too, so don't be surprised if you spot her on a weekend helping out at a beach clean-up or a local soup kitchen.
